Ban The Foam Maryland

One in four pieces of trash collected from rivers in the Chesapeake watershed is styrofoam.

Let’s make it none.

The Maryland State Assembly introduced bills (House | Senate) to ban styrofoam from Maryland eateries as well as the sale of packing peanuts. Banning it at the source prevents it from reaching our rivers.

Buzzard Point Redevelopment

The National Park Service plans to redevelop Buzzard Point Park in D.C.

NPS proposed two solutions for the redevelopment:

Surfrider DC supports Concept 1 as it protects the river from over-development. We’ve contacted NPS about this and will continue to request limited impacts to the Anacostia.
