Hands Across the Sand

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to show your support for Surfrider's anti-ocean drilling initiatives this past Saturday!

Recap
At 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 21, our volunteers stood at the base of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, one of our Nation's proudest landmark's for grassroots advocacy. Joined hand in hand in demonstration of offshore oil drilling and seismic blasting, volunteers from Surfrider, Oceana wore blue to represent our clean blue oceans. Visitors of D.C.'s great monuments got to witness this demonstration first hand, and were given brochures and information about Surfrider initiatives. Some onlookers joined in for a few minutes.

This was one of hundreds of synchronized events globally to stand together for our oceans and coasts. Surfrider DC chapter was lucky enough to be joined by Pete Stauffer, EnvironmentalDirector, Surfrider Foundation.
