Potomac River Cleanup & Hot Dog Roast with Washington Canoe Club

When: Saturday April 11, 2015
Where: Washington Canoe Club

Join Washington Canoe Club (WCC) and the DC Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation on April 11th for a cleanup of the Potomac River and the Capital Crescent Trail. Meet up at WCC's boathouse, located at 3700 Water Street, NW (see note below regarding parking). We'll collect trash by land, and haul it back to the boathouse for proper disposal. Wear sturdy shoes and be prepare to hike! Long pants and long sleeves are also recommended. Surfrider members with boards, kayaks, or canoes are welcome to launch from the WCC dock. The 4 chapter boards will also be available for use. Please comment below to reserve the boards. Volunteers on the water should dress in non-cotton layers (no jeans). Following the cleanup will be a hot dog roast sponsored by the DC Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Please feel free to bring additional sides and/or items for the grill. This is the 27th anniversary of the Alice Ferguson Foundation's Potomac River Watershed Cleanup. On April 11th, hundreds of volunteers will pick up trash from sites all throughout the Potomac River watershed. Please join us in supporting this important watershed-wide cleanup Hope to see you there! Parking/Directions: Please note that there is NO parking available at the boathouse to Non-WCC members. Metered street parking and garages are located near by. Volunteers are also encouraged to take public transportation or bike. This cleanup is accessible via Circulator buses from Rosslyn or Union Station metros. Take the Circulator bus to Wisconsin Ave, NW. Walk down hill on Wisconsin, and turn right. Walk to the end of Water St, past Key Bridge. WCC is the green boathouse at the beginning of the Capital Crescent Trail.
